Clothing Review: The Cherry Dollface Dress II by Steady Clothing

Hello, friends!
From a post that I made a bazillion years ago, I wrote about a gal who goes by the name Cherry Dollface on this here place called the internet.

From that, you can connect that I am very much into the vintage/pinup/rockabilly style.
That kind of deserves a whole post on its own... Hmm.

Anyway, Cherry has designed two dresses with a clothing brand called Steady Clothing.

From a glance at their website, you can see that they are your essential one-stop for reproduction-style rockabilly fashion. They have everything you need for guys and gals, including dresses, tops, skirts, shirts, shorts/pants, etc.

Now, on to the garment itself!

Here's their instagram post announcing the release of the dress, featuring Cherry as the model (duh!)

And now, a picture of me in the dress:

(enter shameless instagram plug here... @sabrinaleecupcake)

*Look: Adorable! It is kind of hard to tell in both images, but the pink-ish hue in the plaid is actually very much so red. I was surprised, but not bothered. This dress is also very wearable, and you can dress it up or down with accessories. Here, I paired it with some open-toed heels and my Mickey Mouse watch.

*Fit: Like a glove! Cherry said on both instagram and facebook that the dress fits very snug, which I was worried about. I noticed in other images of girls wearing the dress, that there was gaping in the chest area. that is something that I simply CAN NOT deal with. Once I got on the dress (size US MEDIUM) all my worries went away! It fit snug in the chest but no gaping, and comfortable in the shoulders as well. I often run into dresses that are either too tight or too loose in my shoulders, so it was a pleasant surprise.

*Quality: Superb! All of Steady Clothing's products are made in the US, which is reassuring. The fabric is high quality, the stitching is neat, and is an overall very well made, sturdy dress. Which is why I'm not going to nag too much in the next section...

*Pricing: Aaanndd the grand total for this puppy was... (drum roll).... $135.99!
Whether you think this is a good price or not, this is how I feel about it..
I've been on the edge of my seat, waiting for this dress to be released ever since she talked about it in this video. Although I thought her first dress she released with Steady Clothing was fabulous, it just wasn't right for me.
All of that though still didn't keep me from having sticker shock. I mean, for a kid who has only a tiny bit of cash flow, this was a big purchase! But it was 100% WORTH IT. I feel like a big kid now! (hahaha)
And, the first 10 people to purchase the dress got a free poster..

Overall Statement:
(done Sabrina style, of course):
This is a really freaking cute dress that is amazing quality and it was designed by someone I admire and I couldn't ask for anything better and I JUST WANNA WEAR IT EVERY DAY OK!?!?!
*clears throat*
...
5 Stars, Steady Clothing.
Love, Sabrina

P.S. - Thank you for the shout out on instagram from both Steady Clothing and Cherry! You guys literally made my life. kthnxbye.

Vintage Haul #1

So I was in Hastings on Thursday for my drivers test, and as I was driving around getting familiar with the area, I noticed that there were a ton of adorable antique shops along their main street by the big bridge.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I like to go antiquing. Call me an old lady, I already talk like my grandpa.

As one can guess, my driver's test didn't end well... The solution? Retail therapy!!!

We first stopped into a little shop called Gracie & Me, where my mom was on the hunt for a birthday present for my grandma. She scored big, of course! And I found a little pink vase ($2.50) that I thought would look cute on my vanity (comment below for a DIY makeup brush holder!!)

On my way out, I spotted this phone that was too insanely cute...

This phone is dated 1973, and it came in 3 colors. Best part? It still works!!! It was priced at $36, but when I hesitated on the purchase, the nice Lady working offered 5 dollars off... So how could I resist??

Then, the shop next door had a little chalk board saying "20-40% off" so of course I couldn't resist.

I walked in and turned a corner, and saw this dress on an iron dress form.

My mom thought it was for display, so I searched for a tag and asked the nice old man (who looked great for being 80 years old) if I could try it on. I tried it on, it fit like a glove, so.

The price was originally $20, but he said with the extra 40% off, it was $12.
*YAAAASSSS PROM YAAAASSSS*
Another thing I found unique about this dress is that I'm pretty sure it's homemade. There is no brand or store tag, and the inner lining isn't perfectly stitched to the dress. I'm not exactly sure what time this style was popular either, any guesses??

The only formal ish purse I have is black, and more flapper style than anything. So I picked this up to go with it for $19.

Do you guys like to dig through junk stores for treasures?? Or do you prefer TJ Maxx?? ;)

Top 5 Beauty Bloggers

Chello!

Today I wanted to talk about my Top 5 Favorite Beauty Bloggers. These are the women that I have looked up to and taught me the how-to's, from makeup, to retro hair, to daily life, and even about.. eh-em.. girl probs. They also all have helped me find my personal style, by giving me helpful tips on styling and showing where they shop.
These beautiful young ladies are all youtubers, which is how I found all of them.
Now I obviously can't rank these ladies from 1 to 5, I adore them all so much, so I'm going to go in order of when I first clicked the subscribe button. ;)

Michelle Phan
I first subscribed 2 or 3 years ago. She is the second most subscribed woman on youtube! Mish has taught me how to do everyday makeup, how to apply foundation, eyeliner, finding the right mascara for me. Not to mention making me teary-eyed when she posted about finally accomplishing one of her life long goals. She has been my go-to makeup girl, and I can't wait to get my hands on one of her new pallets from her newly released makeup collection. (not to mention she's in business with Lancome, the holy grail of makeup and skincare.)

 Weylie
I subscribed to Weylie (known as ilikeweylie) shortly after Michelle Phan. Weylie, to me, is like the big sister I never had. She isn't afraid to give her opinion, and answer the awkward questions about being a teenage girl! (hence, the infamous tampon talk video) She's real, she's chill, smart, and hilarious!! I adore her and look forward to each one of her videos. I feel like she makes an amazing connection with her audience, and honestly, she gives me a loss for words. I am so proud of her as a viewer, and seeing her reach special milestones in her life (her own makeup brush line!!) is a very special thing to be apart of.

Cherry Dollface
Have you ever looked up to a celebrity? And then had the chance of meeting them in real like and you're like... wow. What an amazing person. That's how I feel about the gorgeous Cherry Dollface!! It all started when I was in a tap/swing dance and needed an appropriate hairstyle. Search "vintage" on Youtube, and she is all you need. Not only does she post videos for hair and makeup beyond your wildest dreams, BUT she's a model, she is a heart defect survivor, and the most genuine person on Youtube. I kind of want to keep the words we exchanged via Facebook personal, but I can promise you, she is kind, she is generous, and.. Ahh I just adore her. Kinda fangirling. She touched my heart. Anywhoo, she has really helped me find my personal style. I learned from her that I loovee vintage/retro styles, so I now take all the tools she has given me and I incorporate it into my everyday lifestyle. Pin curls and victory rolls to school? Uh, yes.

Louis
The British invasion begins!!! Louis, perhaps better known as sprinkleofglitter, is one of the most adorable people to walk this planet. I first saw her when she did a video with Joey Graceffa (vlogger) while both of them were at an event called Playlist Live in Florida. I immediately wanted to subscribe to her and watch ALL of her videos. Which of course, I did! Louis is not only a beauty guru, but also a mother to beautiful baby glitter, and I hope some day a million years from now when I'm a mom I'll be as good of one as her. She's fun, bubbly, and interesting, and I love to see what she's got up her sleeve!!

Zoe Sugg
Wherever Louis is, you will find Miss Zoe too! Zoe goes by Zoella on Youtube, and I discovered her shortly after I found Louis. Literally, seconds later. She is is a beauty blogger deluxe! Her style is so cute and girly, and her eye for design is fabulous. Not to mention her hair, have you seen it?! The ultimate ombre!! She's very inspiring when it comes to being yourself. After watching her "draw my life" video, I saw that she is a confident woman who went through her own social anxieties like many others, and I think she is a rock star for that. Stay fabulous Zoe!! We adore you!!

Please feel free to click on their names which will take you to their websites or youtube channels.

Till next time!

Welcome!

My name is Sabrina. And I want to be a beauty blogger. So here's a little post to start off with.. my top 5 beauty products!!

  1. Clinique High-Impact Mascara . I use it every day! Its a great buildable mascara that can take you from natural to dramatic.
  2. Clinique CC Cream. (warning: kind of a Clinique Junkie. If you tend to have allergic reactions to products, I suggest them highly!) Again, an everyday product. It has spf 30 and tons of moisturizing properties to keep skin healthy!
  3. Beauty Blenders. Those little egg-shaped sponges that you can use to buff in your foundation! I found mine at TJ Maxx Home Goods by the register. You can find them everywhere, for no more than $5!
  4. e.l.f. Liquid Eyeliner. Easy to use, cheap, that simple!
  5.  Maybelline Color Whisper. They are super moisturizing, super pigmented, and come in gorgeous shades!! (I own shade 50 Cherry On Top )
Feel free to check out any of these products!!

Until next time!
